MAPUNGUBWE – E.A Voigt An archaeozoological interpretation of an iron-age community Published: Transvaal Museum, Pretoria, April 1983

USD33,97

The contents were initially a thesis accepted for the Degree of Master of Arts in the Department of Archaeology, University of Pretoria, in 1978.

The studies of Faunal remains provide invormation on: Hunting methods, diet and environment; Animal husbandry; Trade contacts; Use of faunal material as raw materials; Interpretation of bone damage (butchering techniques) and Weathering patterns. The results of excavations at Mapungubwe give us a better understanding of the economic basis of the iron-age community of the Transvaal north of the Soutpansberg from 800-1200 AD.
