Welcome to Hemingways Books
HEMINGWAYS ON THE SQUARE
This well-established bookshop opens a new chapter at No. 5 Victoria Square, having been situated in Harbour Road for the past twenty-five years. Hemingways in Hermanus has always evoked an atmosphere of yesteryear, making it a much sought-after destination. In the new premises, the bookshop has retained its old world charm. The historic cottage in which Hemingways is now housed welcomes visitors with a unique lifestyle experience amongst the books, collectables and its two famous Hemingways cats who hang out in the shop's cosy enclosed porch.
In 2013, the famous Louis Vuitton of Paris selected Hemingways Bookshop to be featured in their Cape Town City Guide as a destination not to be missed. The bookshop has been visited by both local and international authors such as Andre Brink and Ian Rankin, as well as many others. Moving with the times, Hemingways has gone online participating on a platform of international auctions, and has both a webpage, and its own online shop. Known for its excellent service, Hemingways will also source books for customers. This unique bookshop stocks general genres, but specialises amonst others, in Anglo Boer War, Africana, Rhodesiana, early travel and South African art.
Victoria Square is an eclectic mix of interesting shops evoking a community atmosphere. Hemingways, situated opposite the popular Eatery, creates a winning continental combination on the square.
