Description

Thomas Baines served as the official artist and storekeeper for David Livingstone’s Zambezi Expedition from March 1858 to July 1859. This expedition aimed to investigate the navigability of the Zambezi River, and Baines documented the journey through his sketches and writings. The expedition’s goal was to explore the Zambezi River and establish trade routes, with the hope of gaining access to the interior of South-Central Africa.
